Kijkduin beach houses

Kijkduin beach is a popular destination because of its proximity to The Hague, the beautiful nature and the presence of fine beach bars. These modern furnished beach houses have the Green Key Gold quality mark for sustainable accommodations, so that’s a must.

The houses are rented out by the holiday park group Roompot, which is increasingly operating modern, sustainable holiday homes in the Netherlands. The cottages have two bedrooms and an extra sleeping place can be made from the sofa.

Panorama House Zeeuws-Vlaanderen

On the beach of Groede there are 15 beach houses with a beautiful glass facade that offer an unobstructed view of the sea. They are part of beach camping Groede that rents out the houses. You can use the camping facilities such as the bread service or bicycle rental.

The panorama houses are made of sustainable materials and equipped with energy-saving facilities. Each panorama house has a kitchen and bathroom and three sleeping places: a double bed on the loft, a bunk bed and a sofa bed. The houses are therefore suitable for four to six people and in some houses your dog is also welcome.

Qurios ECO Grevelingenstrand
Officially you are not at the seaside, but these houses are so cool that they deserve a place in this list. In the Kabbelaarsbank nature reserve, 30 self-sufficient eco houses have been built on the edge of the Grevelingenmeer. You can walk straight from your house into the water, but you can also go into the nature park for beautiful walks.

The cottages are only 30m2 but equipped with a sleeping loft with two separate beds, a bedroom with a double folding bed, a bathroom, kitchen and sitting area. Outside you can cook on your own Weber barbecue and enjoy your terrace. The houses are completely finished and furnished with natural materials.

The Hague beach houses Kijkduin

There are 20 wooden beach houses on a quiet stretch of beach near Kijkduin. The patio doors open onto your own veranda and from there you can step straight onto the beach. The houses are well insulated, provided with the sustainable Green Key Gold quality mark , and can be rented from the beginning of March until the end of October.

The cottages have two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a bunk bed, their own kitchen and bathroom. Also handy, you can make free use of the indoor swimming pool of the adjacent Kijkduin holiday park, where you can also rent bicycles. Pets are unfortunately not welcome.

Sustainable dune houses in the Netherlands

Prefer something a little further from the hustle and bustle of the beach? Then these dune houses are ideal? Quieter location and yet so close to the beach.

Base camp IJmuiden aan Zee

This cool, small-scale holiday park with 30 tiny houses is located in the Kennermerduinen nature reserve, a 2-minute walk from the beach. Basecamp wants to make a stay as sustainable as possible. In addition to their eco tiny houses, they also offer electric bicycles and scooters, they are starting an organic vegetable garden this year and they strive to operate CO2 neutral. Nice!

Almost all cottages have their own kitchen and bathroom, but a TV is missing. Because as they say themselves: ” Who needs a TV when you’re sitting between the dunes and next to the Kennemermeer? ” Wifi is of course available and you can also bring your dog in some houses. The houses are (almost) all different, from ‘washed up’ houseboat to tiny beach house and also differ in size, from just good for 2 people to suitable for 8.

In ‘t Dún Vlieland

If you are going with a group of friends or your family, this is the perfect house. This ecological dune house on the Wadden Island of Vlieland is only 150 meters from the beach. It was built in 2017 and is extremely sustainable thanks to the solar panels, heat pump, solar collectors and natural building and insulation materials.

The house has a kitchen with cooking island, a pellet stove, 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a baby room so you can stay in it with a large group. You can lounge or eat outside on the large veranda. Pets are unfortunately not allowed.

Holiday homes Meerman and Pad

In the middle of the Voornes Duin dune area and only 400 meters from the beach, you will find sustainable holiday homes Meerman and Pad. These ecolodges for four people are sustainably built, electrically heated and well insulated. The houses are located in a special nature reserve with many birds and special plants. An ideal destination for nature lovers!

The houses have two bedrooms, their own kitchen and bathroom and a nice terrace with an outdoor fireplace. Special are the large windows so that you can enjoy all the surrounding natural beauty from the inside. You can rent the houses separately, but also together if you are with a larger group.

Cottages Duinroos and Duinzicht Camping Bakkum

A stone’s throw from the beach, you can stay in these luxurious houses in the middle of the dunes. The houses have the Green Key Gold quality mark, so they are not connected to the gas network and green electricity is used. The beach is a short walk away, which is one kilometer from the dune houses.

The cottages are luxuriously furnished with a beautiful kitchen (including dishwasher), bathroom, veranda and even a sauna! Camping Bakkum is a large campsite with many facilities, where many families with children also come. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this may not be the right place. If you are going on holiday with children, this is a top destination.
